In 2010, Dean saw a gap in the market and launched an all-encompassing Special Effects Service that could deliver high-quality, highly-customised solutions. Working closely with national and international Producers and Production Teams, Dean’s strength lies in his ability to understand and execute a vision using robust workflows and creativity.

DC Special Effects is proud to have provided solutions to a wide range of TV and Film projects including Adrift, Fantasy Island, 6 Days and The Lord of The Rings – The Rings of Power. As at 2022, this series was the world’s largest TV production with Dean leading a team of 70, and overseeing a budget in excess of $14m NZD.

Award winning approach
The quality of our work has been recognised by the Visual Effects Society for Outstanding Special Effects in a Photo Real Episode for The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power. We were also nominated for Outstanding Special (Practical) Effects in a Photoreal Project for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
